Background / Biography

I graduated from Medical School almost 20 years ago. Having always been interested in psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, I was also very much immersed in Modern Dance and different kinds of bodywork. My fascination with and study of the relationship between body and mind or soul led me to become a dance movement therapist.

In the States I began working as a dance/movement therapist in psychiatric hospitals both in in- and outpatient settings, with adults, adolescents and kids.

I also taught Authentic Movement, a form of free association in movement suspending the ego for observing one's own arising impulses and following them step by step using the body, movement and possibly (non-verbal) sounding. It is a form of what C. G. Jung coined "Active Imagination". It can be done using drawing, painting, sculpting, making music, writing - or dance/movement.

Working as a psychotherapist and Jungian analyst in private practice I integrate with some individuals an Authentic Movement phase into the session when wished for and appropriate.

Having lived in South America in different countries for years I became fluent in Spanish. In addition to English speaking patients I currently work with patients from Germany, Spain and South America in their native languages.
